TOPIC: Post Decision Activity

Post Decision Activity 2 years, 3 months ago #394

Dear team,

I have for this message recently on my H1B. I would need your expert advise to understand what this means ?

Post-Decision Activity

On September **, 2009, a USCIS office received this case from the State Department with a request that we review it. We will notify you when we complete our review, or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

Really apprieciate if anyone can get me some thing on this.

Regards,
SJ

Hello -

Thanks for you inquiry. I believe the US CIS, in its explanation above (or below when you checked online) has done about as well as I can do at this point in terms of explaining the status of you case. A decision appears to have been made, and either an approval notice or a denial response is in the process of being produced or sent out, or it's on its way. Since this was in September (I cannot see the exact day) and you do not know the answer yet (it has been at least three weeks if not longer at this point), you may want to call the customer service line and see if they can elaborate on the decision or confirm whether or not a decision notice (good or bad) has been sent out. This seems like a lengthy delay in my opinion from decision to notification by mail. Although not terribly unusual.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Dear Micheal,

I checked my status online from the USCIS website and it was post decision activity but it is written that the USCIS have approved my case on Febrary 25 2010. at the same time the USCIS sent a letter to my husband how lives in Michigan in US to inform him that my case is approved. so what will happen after that? how long will I wait to receive the next step? what should I do? what post decision activity means?

thanks for answring me :)

Hello - sorry for the late response, I had been outside the US.

Post decision activity simply means that a decision has been made on the case and, in regard to your case, the decision appears to be positive.

As for the next steps, I would need to know what kind of case you have. Is it marriage-based immigration? Please advise and I can give you an idea of what to expect. Thanks!

Michael

My fiance is in a similar situation. His mom filed for him approximately 5 years ago; she is a US citizen. His status is now at post deicision activity, atleast since January of 2010. He is over 21 therefore I am aware that this takes more time - compared to me who came here under the status of being a minor and therefore is dependent on my mother- who was being filed for by her mom- my grandma. What's the next step for my fiance. The wait is harsh and its killing me.
