What are the Requirements of an N-1 Visa?

N visas are issued to the parents of G-4 visa holders accorded special immigrant status under the Immigration and Nationality Act, but only if and when the alien is a child (unmarried and under 21).

A nonimmigrant who is granted N status is authorized to accept employment without the need for requesting such authorization and without restrictions as to location or type of employment.


How Long is an N-1 Visa Valid?

You can be admitted for an initial period not to exceed three years.  Extensions may be granted in multiples not exceeding three years each.


Who Qualifies for an N-2 Visa?

An N-2 visa is for the child of a special immigrant parent.


What are the Requirements of an N-2 Visa? 

N-2 visas are for children of special immigrant parents.  An N-2 visa holder is authorized to accept employment in the U.S.  There is no need to request employment authorization and there are no restrictions for location or type of employment.


How long is an N-2 Visa Valid?

You can be admitted for an initial period not to exceed 3 years.  Extensions may be granted in multiples not exceeding three years each, until the child marries or turns 21 years of age.
